This 288-page hardcover book by Liz Wiseman with Greg McKeown presents a study that every leader/manager should read. Based on a study of over 150 leaders, it describes two extremes of leadership - - MULTIPLIERS whose style increases the intelligence and capabilities of those around them and DIMINISHERS whose style lowers the talent and commitment of those around them. The book was published by Harper Business in 2010. The well documented advice in this book can help any leader in any school or any other organization be much more effective.
David Sousa and Carol Ann Tomlinson are the expert authors of this 216-page paperback published by solution Tree Press in 2011. The book describes how discoveries from neuroscience can guide effective classroom practice. It is very complete with examples and one or more application exercises in seven of the eight chapters. Topics include effects of mindsets, curriculum that responds to student differences, differentiation in assessments, addressing differences in student readiness and interest, being sensitive to different learning styles and (multiple) intelligences, and practical steps in classroom management. The book is truly a superior reference source for teachers.
